Everything you need to execute most modern P&W in one preset: a transparent compressor for massive sustain, 3 gain stages plus clean boost for plenty of overdrive flexibility, volume pedal, chorus, vibrato, dotted 8th delay, quarter note delay, three reverb settings (medium, large, and huge for padding), and an ambient pad setting. How did I fit so much into one preset? Clever use of controllers and snapshots.

Setup Details

This package comes with two presets: a stereo version and a mono version. If you run mono to FOH, use the mono preset. If you run stereo to FOH, use the stereo preset.

There are three main ways I’ve seen people use HX Effects:

1. Into the front of a real/modeled amp (or stereo real/modeled amps)

   • The mono and stereo presets in this package will work out of the box with this setup.

2. With an amp+cab sim unit (like Kemper, Iridium, HX Stomp, or a real amp + load box + IR loader) in one of the HX Effects’ loops

   • Simply replace the vibrato block with the fx loop block containing whatever unit you’re using as an amp+cab.

   • Run straight out of HX Effects’ output (or the output of your last pedal) into a DI (or two DIs for stereo) to FOH.

3. In 4 Cable Method (4CM) with a real amp

   • Replace the vibrato block with the fx loop block containing your amp’s preamp.

   • Signal Chain: Guitar > HX Effects Input > Dry Effects > HX Effects Send > Amp Input > Amp FX Loop Send > HX Effects Return > Wet Effects > HX Effects’ main output > Amp FX Loop Return.

The volume pedal is assigned to exp1 so if you have an expression pedal, connect it to the exp1 jack to use it as a volume pedal.
